Is Bolt or Uber best for getting around Lisbon or would taxis be best? Which is your preference?
We used both Uber and taxis, found Uber a bit more handy because of the app, though you do need phone coverage. I have heard though that Bolt is more common for the locals, but most drivers have both Bolt and Uber.
Rides were cheap, as are taxis, maybe too cheap if that makes sense. However my experience is some 3 1/2 years old.
Lisbon is a bit tricky for Uber and Bolt. For some reason, I have difficulty with their drivers finding me. I have zero difficulty in Cascais. However, I still use them when I can because they are cheaper and it doesn’t cost more if you get stuck in traffic, which is common.
Bolt is sometimes a bit cheaper. But, the app has more difficulty finding lesser sites so use addresses not the name of the site.
I usually check both uber and Bolt for the price then go for the less expensive one.
Best is a very hard question to answer as it depends on a lot of things. Not least where you are going. But in general I'd say that the metro and trams are the best way to get around Lisbon. And if you're not going that far, walking is often the best option.
I usually check both and recently Bolt is typically cheaper. In addition Uber will often change your pickup location to a spot more convenient for the driver, which could be a block or two away. Several times this has led to confusion and unnecessary uncertainty. So I always use Bolt, where I've had no such problems, unless there is a big difference in price
