Greetings!
I am all excited about visiting Bolhao Market, but I've seen comments that it's closed for renovations. When is it going to be reopened? We are visiting in September. Should it be open by then?
Thanks!

Rick notes July 2020 reopening in his video about the temporary market:

Additionally, a TA Lisbon member responded to your identical post on that site that end of renovation is scheduled for sometime in 2020. That member provided a link to info about the temporary market.
Thank you Kathy for the answer but not the news :)). I was so excited about visiting the market. I’ve seen it mentioned in a few videos and was looking forward to visiting it.
Hi Anna!
The name of the market is Bolhão.
If your main interest in the market was the archuitecture, the building itself, then sorry to say that the above information is correct, it will not open before 2020. But if you are interested in fresh products and the vendors, they are all at the underground floor of commercial center "La Vie", a few meters away.
Another typical market you might visit is "Mercado de Matosinhos". Matosinhos is a city neighbour to Porto, where the dock is located, and has the best restaurants for fish. Just take bus 500 from the city center (Praça da Liberdade), it's the 1st stop, it will ride you along the river (a scenic view) and ends (last stop) at the market. This takes more or less 40 mnts.
Dear Helena Andrade! Sorry, I think it was the autocorrect which messed up the name of the market!
I was hoping to kill two birds with one stone: the architectual and historical connection of the market, plus get some tasty treats and souviniers to take back home. This would have been the 4th market for us after Barcelona, Malaga, Budapest. All great markets in terms of what you can get and what you can see. I will keep in mind the new location in Porto city which you recommend. Since we only have two days in Porto itself and sInce we are coming from Tokyo (which has the largest functioning fish market in the world ;)) , I fear we won't be venturing out to Matosinhos just for the market itself but again I'll keep it in mind.
Thank you for your great suggetions!
