Looking at a boat from Porto to Regua, a short stay, and a return to Porto by train. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Not to be trite, but, suggestions for what?
There is a single train line that goes from Porto to Pocinho, you can find the schedule
online. There are some nice hotels in Regua and also at least one in Pinhao. If you
are interested in visiting the quintas for wine tasting, you may find more of those in
Pinhao.
I would look at the boat options (can't help with those) to see what works for you, and
then find the trains that get you back on the schedule you want.
There are several companies that offer upstream boat cruises with downstream travel by either bus or train.
Not making any recommendations but posting these so you can check them
very helpful, was just looking for a short cruise while staying in porto!
We’ve done that combination and really enjoyed it. The cruise from Porto to Régua is a relaxing way to see the Douro Valley from the river, especially if it’s your first visit. After some time in Régua, take the train back to Porto, the scenery along the Douro line is beautiful and many travelers actually consider the train ride the highlight of the day.
If your schedule allows, consider continuing by train to Pinhão before returning to Porto, as that stretch of the railway offers some of the best vineyard and river views in the valley. Enjoy your trip!
