Boarder Forts form the Peninsula Campaign

Has anyone done a tour or vacation around the forts and battle sites from the Napoleonic Wars? I'm thinking that would be a lot of fun for a 2-3 week trip through Spain and Portugal. Salamanca, Badajoz, Cuidad Rodrigo, and places like that? I've done WWII and the American Civil War, and think this would be fun. If you've done something along those lines what resources did you use to plan the trip?

When in Lisbon, I did look briefly at getting out to the remains of the fortifications of the Lines of Torres Vedras (Wellington's last line of defence) - but without a car, it seemed very difficult. Similarly it was not easy to find much information on sites of the capture of Porto - although there is a spectacular monument in the Boavista district to the Napoleonic battles.
