My wife and I are visiting Lisbon in May. And we are interested in visiting Sintra, specifically Monserrate and Praia da Ursa. We are considering renting e-bikes from Sintra and riding a loop from Sintra to Monserrate and Praia da Ursa. How is the route, would we be riding on roads or trails? If roads, how is the traffic? We are very comfortable on mountain bikes and the distance. I noticed that much of the area in Parque Natural de Sintra Cascais wondering if there are intermediate MTB trails that connect the different locations and if anyone has recommendations for bike rental shops. Most of the roads in that area are narrow and winding. There are bikers but not usually on e-bikes. And the ones there are create traffic problems and I always think they are taking a big risk riding on such narrow roads. Rarely are there shoulders and definitely not bike lanes.
I’m not familiar with the mountain trails but think they would be much safer.
