Best way to get to Lisbon from Albufeira. Bus? Train?

Hello, fellow Travelers!

I'm looking into ways to get from the Algarve to Lisbon. We'll be staying just outside Olhos de Agua, near Albufeira.

From what I'm seeing, I'll need to get to Faro or Lagos to get a bus or train to Lisbon. I'd appreciate advice on how to get there. It appears a bus takes about 4 hours, and a train takes slightly longer and costs twice as much.

Is there an advantage to departing from Faro or Lagos? Is there an advantage to a train vs. a bus? Am I missing any express trains or buses?

Thanks,
Scott

There is a railway station just outside Albufeira, in Ferreiras. There are a few daily trains from there to Lisbon in around 2:30, as well as a number of slower ones.

Thanks, Badger. That helps out. I'm looking at the cp.pt Comboios de Portugal website and only seeing the 5 hour+ trains. Is there a better site for faster trains?

cp.pt is the correct place to look for tickets. When is your trip? It might be too early to buy tickets.

Badger,

I'm traveling on 8 May, so it may be too early. It's also on a Sunday, so that may affect the schedule.

Then you are way too early, if I'm not mistaken tickets go on sale 60 days before departure. Look up what the schedule looks like a Sunday in the coming weeks and it will probably be similar in May.

Badger,

Thanks for the good advice. You were completely correct, and I have my train tickets, bound for Lisbon.

Happy travels!
