My husband and I will be visiting Portugal for the first time this June for a 10 day trip. We will be renting a car and driving from Porto to Lagos in one day. We want to do the drive in the quickest route possible so we will probably stay along the A2 from Lisbon to Lagos. We are looking for a good place to stop for 1-2 hours for lunch between Lisbon and Lagos. Is there a charming town you would recommend we stop at along the way that isn't too far off the main route? The A2 crosses a vast swath of emptiness. Alcácer do Sal looks like the most interesting town on the stretch south of the Tejo river, but I don't pretend to know every single town in the region.
Santarém, just north of the river, could also be worth a stop.

My Lisbon’s family favorite seafood restaurant is Tasca da Fatinha in Setúbal. You will probably arrive right around lunchtime, driving from Porto.
The address is Av. José Mourinho 58, 2900-633 Setúbal. It is located across from a beautiful harbor.
