We are driving from Sintra with our destination being Porto. We will be in Porto from 14-19. We have 4 days to book in between our reservations in Porto. April 10-14. This is Good Friday leaving on Tuesday. We want to stay somewhere halfway, however as it is Easter weekend I’m not sure if we should stay in Coimbra or along the coast around Aviero. The concern is not being able to explore because of the limits of holiday closures. We will be staying in VRBO properties so that we can prepare our meals if nothing is open. I am leaning towards Coimbra, however my partner likes the ocean. I would love some feedback on where to stay for Easter.

Hi Helene, I was in Portugal for Easter 2019. Nothing was closed!! I stayed in Braga on Good Friday and spent the Easter weekend in Porto. Try to visit Braga if you can for Holy Week; the decorations, processions and Cathedral were very special. Also head to Bom Jesus do Monte if you get that far north!
