We’ll be arriving in Lisbon mid-morning on a Thursday in early September and departing for Porto by train the following Monday. We were thinking of spending our time as follows but wonder if we should mix it up to avoid crowds in Sintra or Belem on weekends. Are they much worse on weekends and would it be better to "flip" our itinerary?
Wednesday – Depart USA
Thursday – Arrive Lisbon mid-morning; explore Lisbon: Alfama, Baixa, Bairro Alto & Chiado
Friday – Continue exploration of Central Lisbon: Alfama, Baixa, Bairro Alto & Chiado
Saturday – Sintra
Sunday – Belem and perhaps continue on to Cascais
