hi all- will be in Lisbon from Dec 19-24 (Friday-Tuesday) and am planning day trips on to Tomar and Sintra. I've read that people generally recommend Sintra for Monday since the weekends are extra crowded, is that true in late December as well? Also it doesn't seem like day of the week matters as much for Tomar, so was thinking of going there Saturday followed by Sintra on Monday. Does that all make sense or am I overthinking it? Thanks!
We took a trip to Sintra with a private guide when we went to Portugal. He told us before we even went that Sintra is more crowded on Mondays because many museums in Lisbon are closed on Mondays.
I had seen reports of that, but was under the impression that monday was still less crowded than weekends. Would love thoughts on whather that isn't true- I could definitely do Sintra on Saturday and Tomar on Monday if it makes more sense.
I can’t believe that Tomar would be overly busy any day of the week in December. I would check the open hours of sites you’d like to visit since winter hours can vary from summer hours. We were there Monday-Thursday in September 2023 and it wasn’t very busy at all. The longest line was for the Convent of Christ and it only took 5 minutes until we were at the ticket window.
