Benfica match end of march

My wife and I (both in early 50s) are considering going to the Benfica match at the end of March. It is against a team down at the bottom of the table, so don’t think it will be a heated derby match.

Atmosphere at the matches? Safety before and after? Will it be easy to get Uber/bolt back to Alfama after match?

Thanks in advance, seems like a cool thing to do while we are visiting.

We went to a Real Madrid Game outside of Madrid. We left about 10 minutes before the game ended to avoid the crush. We learned the hard way when we were at the bullfight and couldn’t get a taxi for about 20 minutes when that ended. Also, before we went into the stadium, we found the taxi stand so we would know where to go.

Safety would not be an issue. Remember, Portugal is consistently listed in the top ten safest countries in the world.

An Uber or Bolt will be a challenge at the end of the game. I echo the previous poster to leave a bit early or be prepared to wait a bit.

It really depends on the specific team rather than ranking as to whether there is potential for trouble. A derby match means a match between local rivals.

I’m not going to check the Portuguese league but I’d assume that Sporting Lisbon and FC Porto are not down the bottom of the table and they are the biggest rivals for Benfica.

Thanks all.
@helen. They are playing chaves on the 30th which is north east of Porto so unless there is some crazy story I doubt this is a derby. :).

I’ll wait for time to get announced and hopefully it will work out. Thx again!
