Beach input

Traveling with two teen daughters and looking for a fun/beautiful beach area in August that’s not packed with tourists. Is there anywhere that has some action (teen girls don’t love anything too remote) but that isn’t painfully crowded? Or at least just busy with locals?

August is the busiest time of the year in Portugal, it will be hot and crowded everywhere you want to go.

Choose beaches that are long so you can walk to the less crowded area on the beach.

Costa da Caparica beach is several kilometers long, it's on the other side of the river in Lisbon, you'll have to take a ferry and a bus.

Carcavelos is usually very crowded but it's only a 30 minute train ride from Lisbon.

In the Algarve Quarteira and Monte Gordo have long beaches that have space away from the main beach.

North of Lisbon, São Martinho do Porto would be my choice.
