We are planning on spending 4 nights in Northern Portugal and will have a car. We'd like to see Nazare, Coimbra and Porto and any other sights you might recommend.
I would appreciate recommendations for a good location to stay for the 4 nights (or should we split the time and stay in two places?) and then do day trips in the area and any special destinations we can visit with a car.
With only four nights, stick with Porto and maybe Coimbra. If you really want the north of Portugal, you’re talking about places like Guimarães, Braga, and other places north of Porto.
Hi - yes, I meant the area north of Lisbon vs. the north Portugal area.
Porto needs more days (3) than Coimbra (1). Or Porto(4) and visit Coimbra as a day trip. Forget Nazare except maybe for a seafood lunch.
If you have time for Northern Portugal, then visit Guimares , Portugal’s first capital, and Viana do Castello, near the sea.
