The Bairro Alto and Chiado Stroll is a good walk with two caveats; one minor, one major. The Sao Pedro de Alacantra Park has linked fence at the view point over- looking the city, which means you are not going to get the best pictures. There is a low fence on the edge of cliff that formally allowed access right to the edge of the cliff, but is not accessible now, so, it's not a great picture taking view area.
The major caveat is the part of the walk on the three streets Tr. Boa Hora, Rua Da Atalaia and T.D. Queimada . This area gives a whole new definition to the term seedy. It might look good at night when it's dark and all the bar lights are on, but get me "outa" here during the day. Slimy.
