Looking for suggestions for accommodations on Sao Miguel for 6 adults and 3 toddlers for a week in June. Place with a pool and close to a beach is preferred

I always recommend checking www.Booking.com and use the filter option to sort through what is available. Only a few will be in walking distance to a beach. Many have pools. Sao Miguel is a very big island, and without knowing where you want to base yourself or your budget, it is difficult for me to make specific recommendations.
If you can narrow down your search to maybe 5 or so hotels, send me a PM and I can offer my thoughts.

If I was going back to Sao Miguel and wanted to stay near a beach, I would stay on the north side of the island in Ribiera Grande. The beach there is stunningly beautiful, though I don't recall seeing a hotel adjacent to the beach. Looking at Google maps, it looks as though Hotel Verde Mar and Spa might fit your bill. Ribiera Grande is a short highway route away from Sao Miguel, but also an easy centralized location to get to Furnas and the tea plantation at Cha Gorreana and Porto Formosa.
