Arriving a day or two prior to our Heart of Portugal tour in May - hotel?

Hello! Our Heart of Portugal tour begins at My Story Hotel - Tejo in Lisbon. We will be arriving either 1 or 2 nights in advance of our check-in date for the tour, and we are trying to decide whether to stay in a different hotel or My Story Hotel -Tejo.

I know we are responsible for making any pre-tour lodging arrangements. I was wondering if anyone has stayed at this hotel prior to the tour check-in date and whether the hotel will work with us to reserve rooms so that we do not have to check out and then check in again with the tour?

I understand I can call them, but I thought this forum's participants might have some suggestions on whether to stay at another hotel for a change of scenery or to try to stay at this hotel pre-tour?

I'm doing the Portugal tour in 2023, too, but my tour starts at a different hotel.
You are given the contact info precisely to add days if you like.
I have added extra days at the tour hotels on most tours and it's not a problem. I email using the address given to see if there is availability, letting them know you are joining the tour. I've always been able to stay in the same room but you can request that to be sure.

I like to stay at the same hotel so I don't have to move, but it's your choice.

You will have to check out and back in, but it's just a matter of paying.

I stayed at My Story Hotel - Tejo prior to joining the Heart of Portugal tour in 2022. I liked being able to settle in and get to know the area before the tour started. I did not have to change rooms. An added bonus was seeing how the hotel residents changed from day to day before our tour group pretty much took over. The breakfast buffet with all the pastries was an excellent intro to Lisbon!

There is always a chance that the tour hotel could change. It happened on our Barcelona Madrid tour. We booked for 4 nights previous to the tour. It was a bummer but we didn’t change our reservation. We got to experience a different part of Barcelona because of the change.

Thank you all for your very helpful replies and suggestions! We've contacted the hotel this evening by email to check on availability, as well as their cancellation policy just in case of a change in the RS tour lodging between now and May 1st!
