Areas to stay in Porto & Lisbon

I have been looking at some YouTube videos of neighborhoods in both cities. It gets confusing after awhile!

I don’t want a party neighborhood, noisy and busy.

Would need easy access to public transport.

I usually rent an apartment, or an aparthotel.

Hilly isn’t an issue as far as mobility is concerned, but when I read about slippery tiles, I’d rather a more flat surface.

Which neighborhoods have you stayed in, and loved?

Hello Ginger

I loved Lisbon.

I stayed in the Baixa neighborhood because it is flat and I do have mobility issues. I have trouble with hills.

I was on Rua Augusta which was noisy and busy during the daytime but quiet at night. It is. a main street for tourists. It is pedestrians only.

I do not remember any clubs on the blocks around my hotel but lots of restaurants. However they stopped serving early. I remember it being quiet at night.

I was near lots and lots of public transportation. Loved walking from the waterfront at one end to the square at the other end,

It rained every day I was there late October but fortunately I walked carefully and did not take.a fall. I wore Chacos and stepped carefully.

I know there are several neighborhoods each with their own personality and character but for me, flatness was most important.

In Porto I like to stay in Matosinhos, outside the city proper, but with an actual beach, a fort, good restaurants on the boardwalk, and level. Bus fare into town is 1 euro.

one more thing, Ginger.

You will need to be careful about your shoes. You need no slip shoes.
