We could add a day to Lisbon or to Lagos if folks think Cascais may not warrant 3 days... thoughts?
When are you going?
I went to Cascais for 3 days the end of September and I LOVED it! I would return in a heartbeat!
I stayed at the Albatroz hotel- it was absolutely wonderful, a splurge, and I’m certain that was one of the reasons I loved Cascais so much- the hotel was so nice. Ask for Room #102. Beautiful room- lovely balcony overlooking the sea. The people there were so nice- the breakfast that was included was incredible buffet. I ate 2 dinners there and they were incredible. Patio overlooking the sea, and they brought me so many special little treats since I was staying in the hotel ( I can’t guarantee that, though, I was a solo traveller so maybe they were being nice 😊 so relaxing. The pool area was so small but nice. Like a said- a splurge but so so worth it.
I also ate at the “Hifen” restaurant in town- walking distance. Incredible. Make reservations.
There is also a market within walking distance you can eat fresh seafood you can point and they will cook it for you. Fun!
I loved the quaint resort town with cute shops and lots of walking. It was really beautiful.
I walked to the beach next door to the hotel and rented a kayak to paddle around for about an hour every morning. Right next to the hotel. (Not part of the hotel). So lovely.
My second day I arranged a private car guide thru the hotel to take me to Sintra. This is a must. You have to get your tickets to the places you will visit ahead of time so make sure to do that- the hotel will advise. I only booked a half day with him and wish I would have booked a full day. I went to a few places, but my highlight was the well at Quinta De Regulera- just amazing. It was again, a splurge but soo worth it. Also visited the town of Sintra and Pena palace.
I loved Cascais. I went after a RS “Best of Spain” tour and it was a wonderful wind-down. I visited Lisbon for 2 days after Cascais. I loved it! I hope you can go and love it just as much as I did!
Happy travels!
Lisa
It really depends on your goal for those three days. If you want blockbuster sites, it will be too long. If you want to relax a bit, wander a bit, have long lunches and dinners by the sea (weather permitting), see a wonderful market and possibly visit small and large beaches, it won’t be too long.
I spent a week in a hotel near Cascais and it wasn’t too long, but of course it depends what you want to do. It’s a lovely place for pottering about, walks, beaches, good food.
You could use Cascais as a base for Sintra if you do not go there from Lisbon.
And if you are bored... You can easily go back to Lisbon from Cascais.
Monkeys1000,
My wife and I spent 5 wonderful days there and would do it again
