Anyone know how to get tickets for Tomar and Alcobaca online?

We are going to Tomar tomorrow and feel better equipped if we have the tickets in advance. The RS Portugal guide mentions a combo ticket that would also cover Alcobaca and Batalha (probably will skip the latter) but we can't find it anywhere. Any ideas?

We visited both monasteries as well as the Convent of Christ a few weeks ago. There were no lines at Alcobaca or Batalha and only a short one at the Convent of Christ in Tomar. If you’re over 65, each has a concessions price. If I was going to skip one monastery it would be Alcobaca. The Convent of Christ is probably my favorite convent or monastery of all the ones I’ve every visited.

The link goes to the website for supposedly buying tickets at each of the site. When I checked it didn’t show any combination ticket packages, so those may be seasonal.

First, scroll to the site you want to visit, then click on the image. Then, click the images again and you’ll see “mostrar datas disponíves” (show available dates). Click on that and the dates will come up in the dd/mm/yyyy format. The time shown under the date is the time the ticket office opens, not the entry time. The ticket is good for the entire day. After selecting the date, click on the time box and another s teen will open where you enter the quantity of tickets. After clicking on the co to Jerez button, the rest of the screens should be fairly easy to follow.

There also a “how to buy” link you can click that will provide instructions.

Thank you Jamie, good reference for others who may stumble across this topic.

We ended up buying our tickets there. It was pretty quiet, maybe 10 others there while we were getting our tickets. The lady at the ticket desk said the combo tickets had been discontinued as of Sept 1. I assume that meant permanently, but I guess it could be seasonal, as you say. I will be submitting a correction to the guide book as we worried way too much about that combo ticket. It was a lovely visit to Tomar. We then went and paid the same amount to enter Alcobaça and I have to say after Tomar it was disappointing. Tomar felt so vibrant, and the little interpretive plaques were quite useful. At Alcobaça it looked Spartan by comparison. There was a sign at the entrance that the interpretive panels were gone for updating but there were QR codes you could scan for info in each room. But none of them worked. We both tried several. The kitchen was cool, and bigger than the kitchens at Tomar, but without interpretation, we only understood what we were looking at because of what we had learned at Tomar. We then went into the church to see the tombs of Pedro and Inez, which were neat. However the church part didn't require tickets! So, I hope that's useful to other visitors. Tomar definitely worth it and easy to get in on a Tuesday in October!
Oh, I forgot, the most exciting thing about Alcobaça was they were filming a period piece movie! We walked in to dudes in full 16th c garb, thought we'd hit some re enactment. It was hilarious to see them later, hanging out with their Evian water bottles, checking their phones between takes!

We too enjoyed Tomar very much. We didn’t get to see Pedro and Inez’s tombs in Alcobaca because there was a wedding taking place and that part of the church was blocked off. There is a photo at the bottom of my website photos from the trip showing the bride walking into the church, down the aisle, and at the alter.

Oh wow I'm going to have to go through your photos! What a neat idea to get married there. It must be in high demand.
