I recently returned from a Portuguese holiday that included an easy, coastal bike trip along the Atlantic. My caution is that bike infrastructure in the Portuguese cities is not great leading to pretty hairy starts and ends each day. With a start in Porto, be sure that your hotel is either in Ribera or Gaia because there is no good way to bike to trail heads from hotels in old town or City Center. There are fabulous trails along the Atlantic and the tracks take cyclists through charming neighborhoods in fishing villages. I loved meeting the locals when we stopped for expresso at cafes.
