Algarve: what to see

Hi guys,
We will be in Algarve for 3 full days. We plan to stay one night in Tavira and 2 nights in Lagos. Could you please give some recommendations on what is absolutely worth seeing in Algarve? Thank you in advance!

Ponte de Piadade - close to Lagos is spectacular. Benagil sea caves are also pretty amazing. Be aware both of these will be very crowded in the summer.

One night in Tavira gives you at best two half days and you will get one full day in Lagos. The joy of Portugal is getting lost in the back streets, having a coffee, people watching etc. Tavira is ideal for this. Walk out to Barril beach or take the small train. Have lunch overlooking the sea in Fuseta. Cacela Velha is a lovely spot.

From Lagos. If you want to see the folded rock formations up close, drive north from Vila do Bispo to the beaches around Carrapateira. The boat trips to the caves can be a hideous experience in the summer - you will spend far longer waiting to go into the caves than you have in there.

Visit Silves en route between Tavira and Lagos and see the castle.
