We are driving back from Spain through the Algarve and want to spend 3-4 nights in the area to do some watersports and hiking. Looks like the caves near Craveiro are beautiful and I Sagres for a sunset. Any recommendations on where to stay as a home base? hotels? companies to use for paddleboarding or surfing? Thank you in advance!

I love Carviero, and the caves...just beautiful! That isn't a bad area as a home base, although it is quite small. But you can get either direction in a decent timeframe. You will get the sunset all along the Algarve and while we like Sagres, it is quite windy so prefer any other beach front for beverages and views.
The surfing is pretty much up on the Silver Coast, but there is an area in Vilamoura that has a bit of wave action and has surfers taking advantage. (Sagres would prob be best for that). Vilamoura is also very central, has lots of hotels and a nice marina with water activities.
We have found a couple of hikes, as well as a great bike tour out of Silves if that is on the list as well. Message me for any questions!
