algarve accomodations for late september -help!

Hello,
Ive been spending some time on this forum, reading Rick's posts about Faro and Algarve, but I'm honestly still looking for some more guidance and others experience staying in the Algarve area. my husband and I are taking a 3 day trip there from Germany in late September. so its a 3 hour flight). we just want to relax and do some hiking. anyone have any places they enjoyed staying? there's a fair share of hotels, apartment style living-but Im also looking for something convenient for hiking in the Ponta de Piedade area. price would be no more than 800 euro. we are both pretty active nad in our early 30s.
thanks in advance

A good option would be to stay in Lagos, as the walking west of there is good along the cliff tops.

Check your dates on booking.com as there are reports of many places being full throughout September, so your choice maybe limited so close to your travel date.

I agree with staying in Lagos if you can find accommodation. You can easily train from Faro to Lagos and the town is my favorite in the area. Renting a car once in Lagos is likely a good idea. A car would enable you to travel to Sagres and some of the others areas easily. There are many hikes in the Lagos and other western Algarve areas.
If you can't find a hotel, try looking for apartment rentals.
