Alentejo winery accommodations

We will be travelling to this region the end of September. Does anyone have recommendations for accommodations in or near the wineries. We are thinking we would stay in Evora. Our interests are hiking, biking and of course wine tasting,
Are the cork forest nearby?

There are two wine tasting places right in Evora. In fact, they are right next to each other. As I recall, they are on the same street coming down from the cathedral. They are listed in the Rick Steves guide. I am in a car driving from Oregon to Minnesota, or I’d look them up for you.

One is like a small museum and they represent many different wineries. The wine was GOOD and so inexpensive. We bought a few bottles and wished we could have bought more.

The other, I believe, was a single winery. I believe we paid a small amount for the tasting.Their wine was also quite good tho my recollection is that it was pricier.

This region’s wine was so good and such a value, I hope I can get Total Wine to start carrying it

Thanks so much for the information. Do either of these places have accommodations attached to them?

You might want to read Julie Dawn Fox’s blog. She has an extensive amount of info on the Alentejo and all of Portugal. She also recommends hotels and Quinta’. I trust her recommendations.
And, yes, cork forests are mainly in the Alentejo regions.
