I know a lot of you are not fans of airbnb so I am looking to see what alternatives there are to airbnbs? I usually perfer a place where we can spread out, has a small kitchen so we can make breakfast and lunch as well as a washer so we can do laundry without having to lug it across town. I don't mind hotels if we are staying 1 or 2 nights but if we stay 6 to 7 nights I perfer something with the above amenities. I'd like to hear your thoughts.
i for one, love airbnb's, so if there's an alternative that doesn't break the bank, i would like to hear.
I like apartments as well, but I am not a fan of AirBnb. Without going into detail why, I do use Booking.com as well as VRBO.com. Several times I have used a town’s tourism site to connect with local owners. This works well in the small, small towns. Just Google the town name + tourism to start. You’ll have to wade through a lot of companies ads at the top of the search, so be sure to find the real site. Note it is vital to do your due diligence and make sure you are dealing with a real person running an honest operation. That holds true for any site.
Airbnb or short-term apartment rental alternatives? We had a post years ago where someone stated that they would not stay in an AirBnb because it takes homes from poor people ... but they liked VRBO. Seriously?
All the rental platforms have their pluses and minuses. Pick one that works for you or look for home grown platforms. I know a couple in Budapest. Just management companies doing their own marketing. Sometimes you can find apartment hotels. Here they tend to be a collection of what would otherwise be Airbnb units on one floor of an apartment building packaged with a politically correct term "hotel."
I use Booking.com, they have a range of properties, easy to sort be amenity. While some of their properties are short term lets, they do a better job of policing compliance to local requirements than some of the other sites.
