If you don’t have passports yet for an October trip, get busy. This time of year the process is slower. And airfare prices will get more expensive the closer you get to departure date as well.

You don’t need a travel agent if you are willing to put in some work at the planning process. A travel guide such as the RS Europe book can help you with the details. Once you nail down your transport and your destination you can work on hotels, apartments, air BnB’s etc. one tip for air travel — if you plan to visit more than one city, try to book your trip as multiple destinations rather than round trip, (travel to one airport and returning from another), which will save you time and money.

Be wary of booking through third party vendors on-line such as Expedia, Travelocity because if you have a problem the vendor and airline or hotel pass the problem back and forth. However, if you book your tickets directly with an airline, take a look at the hotels offered as a package. Sometimes you’ll see a good deal.
