Add ons before or after RS Portugal Tour

We are looking at booking the RS Portugal tour for 2020 and wondered if anyone has added another RS tour to it (before or after) that was close or just made sense (other than Spain). We visited Spain a year ago and won't do it again yet. Are there other itinerary items that make sense? River cruises, close countries etc? Other days in Portugal?

Thanks

Great tour, RS Portugal! I made it a considerably longer trip in 2017. A few days in Sintra and Lisbon before the tour, a few days in Porto (with day trips) after the tour. Then, not so close, flew Porto to Athens for the RS Greece Tour. You might like to replicate that memorable trip!

As mentioned above, the RS Portugal tour was at the top of the list of favorite tours. We arrived a couple days early and did an organized day tour to Sintra/Cascais and surrounding areas. We departed in walking distance from the RS hotel. We hired www.lisbonriders.com. Very enjoyable tour. We added another 9 days in Spain on our own. If we had more time we would have added the RS Basque Tour. That might be an option if that sparks your interest. A few of our tour members added the Camino de Santiago trail following the tour.

We traveled in Portugal and Northern Spain independently. From
Porto we crossed the border and explored Galicia with it’s beautiful Rias Baixas, and Santiago de Compostela where we watched pilgrims as they finished their caminos.
This would work well with the end of your RS tour.

If you don't want Spain, then plan on flying into Lisbon or out of Porto. That pretty much leaves the door open to any RS tour. To help, go to the wiki page for the Lisbon and Porto airports. There's a table with all the airlines and destinations. Add to that whatever possibilities you have for flying open-jaw from home.

We are going on this tour in April 2020. We plan on linking it with the Loire to the South of France tour. We have been to Chartres before so will likely linger in Porto or zip up to San Sebastián then to Chartres. We’ve linked 2 tours together before and have given ourselves 3-8 days to wind down in between. This one is a little closer but it should be ok. We likely will get to Portugal 4-6 days early too.

We enjoyed the RS Portugal tour June 2018 , spent an extra day in Porto and then flew to Sao Miguel in the Azores for 5 nights. Absolutely beautiful island - we loved it! We rented a car and toured on our own.
