Accomodation advice in Porto

After finalizing our itinerary for our Portugal family trip this August, where I received excellent pieces of advice from forum members here, the next agenda is booking accommodations. Managed to do that for our Lisbon and Fatima stay but not for Porto, where we plan to stay for 4 days and 3 nights. I would definitely appreciate hotel suggestions. Thanks in advance!!!

I stayed in a lovely apartment with my adult daughter last year. The website is Oportoapartments.com
It was one of the nicer apartments I've ever rented and the management is great. It was almost like having concierge service. They have several apartments in the same building in a great location. You might want to give them a look.

I stayed at the Grande Hotel do Porto on June 22 and 23 last month. I enjoyed my stay there and they had a very good breakfast buffet. I would stay there again.

We visited Porto in conjunction with a river cruise of 7 days and stayed over two nights in Porto. We stayed at a wonderful B&B called the InPatio Guesthouse. This was the BEST B&B that we have ever stayed in anywhere. I posted a review on TripAdvisor:

This B&B was simply the best that we have encountered, ever. The location is perfect for site seeing in Porto. The rooms and building structure are new and modern with all the modern amenities, including a wonderful walk in shower with a large rain shower head. The room had a safe for our valuables, flat screen TV, comfortable bed, mini-bar, coffee/tea maker and more. Ferdinand and Olga, the owners are super. Our breakfasts were great with homemade items, different every morning. Ferdinand assisted me in confirming a tour reservation and arranging for a taxi. The hotel has an elevator for luggage. The hotel is located near the river and all the downtown sites as well as many excellent restaurants.

geovagriffith, I've checked out InPatio Guesthouse and it looks awesome! Read the reviews as well and they always raved about the breakfast.

Unfortunately, it may not be appropriate for us as we are a family of 4 (a teen and a tween). The place looks more suitable for a couple, especially honeymooners.

Anyways, I should have mentioned we have kids and that we are budget conscious as well.

But thanks! I have a friend who will be traveling soon and will sure pass on the recommendation.

If you'd prefer to stay in a hotel, you might have a look at Hotel da Bolsa, which seems to get good ratings.
