9 Day itinerary in and out of Lisbon- Need advice

Hi everyone,

I am embarking on my first journey to Portugal and wanted a bit of advice on my proposed itinerary. I am flying in and out of Lisbon I arrive Monday May 29 and leave Weds June 07. I will be taking public transport for all (no rental). I love beaches/fishing villages.
Proposed itinerary:
May 29- Lisbon
May 30- Lisbon
May 31- Lisbon
June 01- Obidos and Nazare (spend night in Nazare)
June 02- Nazare to Porto
June 03- Porto
June 04- Porto
June 05- Porto to ?
June 06- Sintra?
June 07- home

I have a few questions. I would like to visit Obidos on my way to Nazare, but it seems like there is nowhere to store my luggage for a few hours. Is that still true? What is the best way to fit both into one day trip?

In Porto, everyone seems to suggest a Duoro day cruise. Any opinions on which one is the best?

On June 05, if I leave Porto early, I will have a few hours to see somewhere else on my way back to Lisbon. Any suggestions for a nice town on the way? (Will have my luggage with me).

As of now I only have hotel in Lisbon and one night in Nazare reserved. So the last half of the trip can be completely retooled if needed.

Many thanks!

Meghan

I have been to Portugal twice. The first time, I rented a car and drove to Obidos and Nazare. The second time, we were on a tour that included a Douro River cruise (wonderful).

I don't remember seeing a rail station at Obidos. It is a wonderful place to visit, but everyone seemed to arrive there by bus or car. Perhaps you can take a tour. I know that you can take a tour to Sintra from Lisbon. I believe you can take the train, but there may be a taxi involved.

We did take the train one way from Porto to Lisbon, which was easy and fast.

I suggest researching taking a cruise on the Douro. Ours was a week, but I know there are day trips. Also, the train goes up the valley because we saw the rails near the river. I suggest going up the river at least half way to the Spanish border.

There is a wonderful B&B in Porto, the InPatio Guesthouse. The proprietors are super, the house is newly refurbished, great breakfasts and great location.
