We are going to Portugal in July and want to know suggestions for things to do and must sees with teenage boys. Thank you!
Always helpful to give more detail on what you and your family typically like to do and how old your boys are. I found Lisbon very safe and although my kids are grown now, we let them explore cities and towns in Europe when they were teens without issue. Without knowing any details I would say a few things might be:
1. Saint George's Castle (Castelo de San Jorge) and Alfamo neighborhood (lots of windy streets) for exploring.
2. TimeOut Lisbon for lunch
3. Núcleo Arqueológico da Rua dos Correeiros - archeological dig presentation - 50 minutes.
4. any of miradouros (lookouts over the city)
5. Ride the 28 and 24 trolleys.
You can scooter(motor) throughout the city especially along the river (they are all over the city -and you can leave wherever as long as you have account). Your boys will probably love that. Not sure if there any age restrictions but they can probably do on their own. Belem has great sites and you can take a boat cruise (sailing or motor) up the Tagus River.
We didnt make it to Sintra (not enough time) but a day trip from Lisbon and castle hiking abounds there from what I researched.
