4 active adults arriving in Porto mid June with 8 full days; will rent a car, wineries, hiking, beach and ultimately end up with ? 3 days for Lisbon. Would love advice on special places, not to miss little towns and best locale to stay in Lisbon for all, and after we ditch the car… love outdoor sights, ancient ruins.. less so museums. Thx in advance for any info!!

I'll be in Portugal this summer again and I would recommend staying in Baixa or Chiado. I try to stay relatively near both metro and tram stops if possible. The center part of Lisbon is very walkable, but there are a lot of sights that are spread out, and especially if you want to visit Belem and/or Cascais, you'll need public transportation to get there. Try to take a day trip out to Sintra from Lisbon. Evora is another possibility accessible both with train or car (on the way to Lisbon).
