5 and half days between Porto and Lisbon...help us choose !

Hi !

We (2 adults and 2 kids 5 ans 9) will be in Portugal this summer. We already have 3 nihghts in porton (with a daytrip in Gimares) and 5 nights in Lisbon (with daytrip in Sintra).

We have hard figuring where to stay for our remaining 5 nights. We will have a car rental .

What we ask is to help us choose a location to stay and what to see in the time we have:

  • Douro vally
  • Coimbra + Conimbriga
  • Tomar
  • Nazare
  • Aveiro
  • Evora
  • Batalha
  • Alcobaca
  • Obidos (maybe while going to Lisbon)

We know we dont have to see all this, but what would be your choice ? We also looking for maybe 2 places to saty that would allows us to get to somme of those destinations

have we forgot any must see ?

On my scouting trip before moving here, I stayed a week in São Martinho do Porto on the 'Silver Coast'. From there we did day trips to Nazaré, Alcobaça, Batalha, Óbidos and several towns along the coast you haven't mentioned. It is a nice small town with a lovely horseshoe beach that is very calm and ideal for children.
If you want to see the Douro valley, that's best done from Porto. And, Evora can be done as a day trip from Lisbon but with your limited time, you might want to skip it this time.
I would encourage you to make some decisions fairly quickly as many places will already be booked for this summer.
