4 nights in Portugal

We are headed to Portugal for 4 nights after the RS Basque Country tour and are torn on how to spend the time. Originally we thought 2 nights in Porto and 2 nights in Lisbon and depart Lisbon for home. But that now seems rushed…. (We will start our trip in Bordeaux for 2 days before the tour starts.)

Based on that, I am considering skipping Porto and just making Lisbon home base and then potentially doing a day trip or two from there. But we want to maximize our time so….help on how to spend 4 days is appreciated.

Also - we have an interest in Portugal’s pottery….

We spent 2 wks in Portugal. Small as it is, and plus only a part of it is populated, wished we'd stayed longer. If it was my first time there and I had only 4 days I'd base in Lisbon and make a day-trip to Sintra. That would avoid spending more time in-transit than at various destinations. Think of this time as a preview and plan to return!

I don't have a lot to say in response, except that in your case I would spend all four nights in the departure city, Lisbon. You'll easily be able to fill the time. However, if you want more advice you should probably state when you will be in Portugal -- soon forum readers won't know whether it's still worth their time to respond. (Maybe it's already too late!)
