4-5 nights in Porto - arriving by car - what area to stay in

Hi,

we're going back to Spain and Portugal next summer. Doing a Road Trip again. Last time we also did Lisbon. This time though we plan on staying in Porto for 4-5 nights. Somehow we've never been there yet.

Since we're road-tripping we will arrive by car. I wonder what area would be good to stay in for first timers? Something central with sights and restaurants in walking distance would be great. Finding an accomodation will be fine. We always managed to do so in the past - even though travelling by car and with a dog.

There is a Pestana hotel that accepts dogs. Good hotel chain so look there.

Hi - we are currently staying at the Maison Particulare - on Largo de sao domingos in heart of town
They do welcome dogs , the hosts are wonderful and the property is lovely … it’s a small place so book early
