Thanks for this article. Am planning a visit to Porto in April/May and am trying to decide on one night vs two. Would also like to see Douro river valley. Anyone with recommendations for time allotment and travel method? TIA, Sherry

I did a two+ week drive from Madrid to Lisbon so I had a car for the whole time. If you're basing in Lisbon, it's an easy train ride to Porto. I'd stay at least one night and if you have the time, take a detour by boat or book a tour to visit some of the fincas in the Duoro Valley -beautiful scenery and spending a night there might also be nice.
