Can I get advise from anyone who is familiar with Douro Valley
Should we stay in Porto all 3 nights and just day trip to Douro or stay one night in Douro? We have a car and will then be heading to Southern Portugal.

Stay one night in Douro and not only see the sights, but soak in the flavor of the valley. And the Douro wines, too!
If you only have three nights in the area, you can see most of Porto in one day and go up the Douro on a river boat for a day or take the train, which runs right by the river.
We love the In Patio Guesthouse B&B, it is the best in Porto.
We visited Portugal last fall and hope to again soon. Our time in the Douro valley was most enjoyable. We stayed at Solar Casa Grande in Poiares for two nights and absolutely loved it. We also visited Porto, Coimbra, and Lisbon.
