14 days in Portugal (Porto to Lisbon)

Hi All!
My wife and I will be on our honeymoon in Portugal soon. We have 14 days and we want to make the most of it. We'll rent a car in Porto, and do a road trip through the Douro Valley on our to Lisbon. We love small towns and history.Does the following itinerary is doable?

  • Days 1-4: Porto (a day trip to Guimaraes)
  • Day 5: Drive through the Valley, Winery and stay in Lamego
  • Day 6: Drive to Aveiro and spend the day in town, then drive to Luso (stay in Luso)
  • Day 7: Luso, Bucaro Forest, Winery (stay in Luso)
  • Day 8: Drive to Obidos by way of Coimbra with detour to visit Almourol Castle (stay in Obidos)
  • Day 9: Explore Obidos, then drive to Sintra and staying the night
  • Day 10: Explore Sintra, stay the night
  • Days 11-14: Lisbon

Is this doable? Too ambitious? Let me know!
Thanks!

It’s doable but you are going to spend so much time driving and checking in and out of hotels. One night stays are never my preference, though I might do one here and there. Five by my count) in a row would be undoable for me.
While I realize the desire to see as much as you can, by rushing around so much, you will be missing the joys of the slower pace of life that is Portugal.
I would encourage you to eliminate one or two places, choosing the most intriguing.. Aveiro could be a miss. Obidos can be seen in a couple of hours. However, the places that appeal to you might be very different. Try to slow down and you will enjoy your trip much more.

I’ll throw this out as a possibility.

Óbidos only takes a couple hours to see and is an hour’s drive from Tomar. Almourol Castle is 30 minutes from Tomar. Maybe drive from Coimbra to the castle, then spend the night in Tomar. As the crow flies, Tomar is an hour’s drive from Coimbra, 1.5 from Luso. If there was time, you could walk up the hill in Tomar and see the Convent of Christ. In the morning you could continue to Óbidos, see it, and continue to Sintra.

Aveiro probably won’t take all day to see, even if you take the tourist boat ride.
