We like Residencial Hotel Florescente. It is located on a pedestrian street within walking distance to many sights and also to the metro, bus, and electric car, in addition to many restaurants. You can check them on tripadvisor and booking.com.

Agree with prior poster but suggest you book quickly as Residencial Hotel Florescente gets booked out far in advance. Great staff & location. Also, check booking it through galahotels.com - rates could be a bit better and they may have rooms when front desk is "sold out".

Barrio Alto is the neighborhood to stay in. Much more character I think. We stayed at Orange 3 Guesthouse on our most recent trip and had a superior time.
