12 days in Portugal

Pretty hard to give good advice without knowing more - what's great for me might be awful for you...

• What are your interests, your preferences, your likes and dislikes?
• Have you been to Europe before?
• When are you going to be there?
• etc.

We are not beach people, so we have never done the Algarve.

I would recommend Lisbon for 3-4 days, perhaps more if you do day trip from Lisbon to Evora and/or Sintra.

Obidos is a small ancient walled city that goes back to the Romans and is a must see.
Batalha Cathedral is impressive.
Nazaré and Cascais are worth a stop.
Coimbra may be worth a day or two.
Porto is a must see for 3 days. Take a cruise on the Douro or the train up the river.

I would add Alcobaça which is where royalty are entombed. It is an impressive structure with simpler lines. Otherwise we visited all the places mentioned in above post and agree with recommendations. Be aware that sadly today Obidos exists for tourism and a few hours is all you’ll need to see it.
