10 days in Portugal beginning in Porto and ending in Lisbon

I’m trying to put together an itinerary that begins on September 12 and ends on September 21. This does not include our travel dates. We are flying into Puerto and out of Lisbon. We were thinking we would stay for the first two days in Porto. We want four or five days in Lisbon and maybe a couple of day trips from there. We are interested in Sintra, Fatima. Should we try to fit in the Algarve? I’m not sure how to work this itinerary so any help or advice would help me out! Thanks in advance!

I would skip the Algarve but definitely plan to see the Douro valley and Evora.

Hi, I've just gone onto this forum and have the same question. Should I try and fit in Algarve? 6 to 28 September but 8 days (middle week) in Porto meeting my son. So Lisbon 3 nights, Sintra 3 nights (I like gardens and climbing hills!), then Porto ( Duoro valley day trip), then back down to Lisbon and day trips from there, or all the way down to Algarve which seems like a formidable journey.

apattmom4, Skip the Algarve. Include Coimbra driving south from Porto, either an overnight , or at least stop to see this beautiful town and famous university library.
Will you arrive in Porto from an international flight and be dealing with jet lag? If do, two days is not enough time.

Thank you Philip and Sue K! Thank you for your insights. Yes I will be flying in from the United States arriving on September 12. So yes Jetlag will possibly be a factor. We do not plan on doing the Douro Valley. Although if we add a day to Porto we would definitely do it. Seems like I should skip the Algarve. Would you fit in Fatima from Coimbra or a day trip from Lisbon?
