Hi. My husband and I will be spending 10 days driving in Portugal. I'm having some problems with part of the itinerary and am looking for some help. We arrive in Lisbon early AM (only 2 hours difference, no jet lag). 3 nights in Lisbon including 1 day in Sintra. We'll pick up our rental car on the 4th morning and drive to Evora for one night. I'm trying how best to split up the next 5 nights. I would like to go to the Douro Valley and Porto and then drive to Sao Martinho do Porto to explore that area including Tomar, Batalha, Obidos and more. The last night we will spend close to the airport after retuning the car. I also don't know where it will be easiest to pick up the car in Lisbon. Any and all help is welcome! Thanks!
Since jetlag isn't going to be an issue, I'd be inclined to make Lisbon my last stop. That will reduce the number of hotel check-ins by one, giving you a bit more sightseeing time.
I count nine nights, which doesn't mean ten days for me. Is there something missing from the original post?
I haven't driven in Portugal, so I don't have a good sense of how quickly you can move around. I'd want an extra day in Lisbon, though.
Thanks for catching that acraven. My bad. We have 5 nights in the middle. Not 4.
I will definitely look into your suggestion for switching Lisbon to the end. Thanks!
