Hi, We’re going to be in Lisbon for 3 nights at the beginning and end of a 5 week driving trip through Portugal and Spain in February. We have our flights and car booked and are now looking to book some of our accommodations. We’d appreciate any advice or suggestions, especially for places near or in Lisbon. We prefer small, quaint, quiet hotels or rooms rather than large chain hotels in downtown areas - and love being near water. Thanks!
Hi Maureen, since you love small and quaint you need to sleep in the Alfama district in Lisbon. This section of Lisbon’s four districts that make up the old town has trees that line its streets giving it a village feel. After dinner stroll the area and stop where you hear fado music and order a glass of port wine.
We loved https://www.hotelavenidapalace.pt/ and would go there again and again!
Definitely stay in central Lisbon. Avenida Palace is a wonderful hotel.
We avoid small and quaint hotels in city centers as they tend to be noisy, can’t keep city noises out.
