I will be in Lisbon for 4 days and Sintra for 2 days before going on to Porto.

I will be traveling around Portugal by train and metro and visiting all the sites. I have already purchased my train tickets From Lisbon to Porto and return

Do you have an easy to understand explanation of the VivaViagem card. I understand the general concept of the card but am confused about zapping. I f you do not use all the credit on the card in a certain time frame it expires or is carried over. The more I read the more confused I get. I have purchased cards in other countries and they seem more user friendly.

I will be in Portugal in May and it sounds like zapping is just drawing down on a prepaid card. While it may expire at some point, I don't think it will expire in a few days. You may want to post your question on the portugal forum rather than the trip reports forum.
