Sintra hotels or b&b's

Hello,
I am thinking about a quick 1 week trip to the Lisbon area. I gave been there before and have really enjoyed myself. I want to send a couple of days in Sintra. Just wanting to see if anyone has stayed in that city. I will be traveling solo.

Thanks,

We stayed 2 nts at Hotel Sintra Nova. Well kept older family hotel with an excellent breakfast. The owner and staff are helpful for information. No lift. Small room and bath. 2 blocks from train/local bus stop. Eat @ Incomum, it is excellent. Service is special. We really enjoyed the peace in the evening after the day tourists left. To see the sites you will need to start first thing in the morning. Castle, QR and Palace are my favorites. For a day trip we took the bus to beach Mais/Grande. Had a long lunch at Buzio's. Walked across the inlet with tide out to Grande. Ran for the bus for a view of the sea and white village. Returned to a stop in Colares for bus 403 to the Cabo de Rosa. Then, back to Sintra. Note the bus driver, after a discussion with middle school age boy about no money for a ticket or a lost pass, let the boy on. And us off a few feet from the stop. What a sweetie.

In May of this year I spent my first two nights in Portugal at the very nice Chalet Saudade in Sintra, a short walk from the train station, going toward the center of town. Spacious and very clean room and bathroom, lovely and very helpful staff, reasonable rates, great breakfast served at their nearby restaurant Cafe Saudade, and, complimentary port all day in the nice living room of the inn! I especially enjoyed dinner at the new restaurant Incomum, almost across the street from the inn. A pleasant ten-minute walk to the center of town, past traditional and modern art, parks, etc. Highly recommended! Sintra is terrific, with 4 or 5 palaces/estates with interesting architecture, gardens, etc., each meriting a half day or more. Lots of interesting shops, bakeries, etc as well.
PS: I was there for a Thursday and Friday, but heard that Monday's are the busiest, with many, many day trippers from Lisbon, since many Lisbon museums are closed on Monday.
