RS Lisbon Tour Hotel

For some reason my question about the hotel that is at the beginning of the Portugal tour, went under the Edinburgh section.
I was just wondering about the location of the Hotel Lisboa Plaza, whether it was in a "seedy" area like someone mentioned on a different forum question.
I have been on a couple of RS tours already, and I add 2 nights prior to the start of the tour at the first hotel being used on the tour.
When I did reserve the 2 extra nights, I was charged right away, that seemed odd. I don't mind, but usually the hotels charge me when I check in, no matter how far in advance I reserve the nights.
But my main question was whether or not anyone who has stayed at that hotel felt like it's location was seedy and not a great location for walking around, especially at night. I will be going with my girlfriend on this tour.
Thanks

I stayed at the Hotel Lisboa Plaza in 2022 for a RS tour. It is not in a “seedy” area. It is on the rather upscale Avenida da Liberdade.

It is not unusual to be charged upfront when you make a reservation.

I was on the RS Portugal tour in 2017 or 2018 and stayed at this hotel (plus two days before the tour). I echo what Laura said regarding location. In my experience, this tour had the most number of more upscale hotels than any other RS tour I have taken.

I’m glad to see they changed Lisbon hotels. We stayed in My Story Hotel Tejo on the Portugal tour a couple of years ago and I would not recommend it.

We stayed at the Hotel Lisboa Plaza on an independent trip several years ago. It remains one of our favorite hotels, and we would book there again in a heartbeat.

Ditto, was there in the spring and its a great location. The seedy impression might have been from a couple of empty buildings immediately adjacent and around back, but its a well situated property and well kept. As an aside, if you want an outstanding meal in easy walking distance, Quermesse Restaurant was outstanding.

Interesting.... we are on the RS Portugal tour next month and our first hotel is the MyStory Tejo in Lisbon so I'll be sure to post my take on it after I get back. I'm hoping it's a better experience than others had in past years.

I did the same thing, booking a couple of nights before the tour, but I did not get charged. The hotel only asked for a card to guarantee the room. This was several months before my upcoming trip.
