Traveling to Portugal in September with a group of 10 people total (5 couples). Will be spending 3 nights in the Algarve area and would like to stay either in Salema or Lagos.
Can anyone recommend a good hotel/resort?? Looking for something on the higher end and a pool would be a huge plus.

Most of the accommodation in Salema is private rentals. There is one rather basic Hotel Residencial (supposedly 3 star) and a small, simple guest house A Mare. Neither have pools.
Salema Beach Village is at the top of the very steep hill and comprises about 100 unit rentals that share a pool. The units were originally sold off to individuals but the developer went bust and after standing empty for years, they were completed and now comprise a resort for which they are charging more than double the rate of similar terraced properties in Salema. They don’t seem to offer anything in addition.
If you want upmarket, then you will have more choice in Lagos, albeit most accommodation there is also villa/apartment rentals. Many places don’t have pools, as most go there for the good beaches. In Lagos, Casa Mae is in the centre. I wouldn’t want to stay out at Boavista Golf Resort as it’s too far out of town and nor would I want to be too far east along Meia Praia.
Comporta nearer to Lisbon is a beach resort that has more upmarket accommodation compared to the Algarve.
