lodging outside of Lisbon

We will be traveling in May to Portugal. After 10 days or so of seeing "sights", we are looking for a wonderful, quiet place to stay for three days near Lisbon. Connection by train/taxi would be perfect. We will be flying out of Lisbon mid-morning. Deeply appreciate any suggestions that you can offer. Best.

Hello Janet,
I will recommend the little town of Cascais. It's a simple little train ride from Lisbon's Cais do Sodre station. The ride was around 35 minutes.
Cascais, is a sweet little town right next to the ocean. Lovely boardwalk to walk on between the southern town called Estoril, here they have a casino where they filmed several of the Older James Bond films.
I did not stay there, but visited for the day. Wished we could have stayed there. Next time my family visits, I am hoping to stay there in Cascais.
Hope this helps,
Have a great time in Portugal!

Will Sintra be part of your sights already? Otherwise would you consider it? It is very beautiful, not sure if as quiet as you would want, but very accessible by train or taxi. We wondered to the next town Sao Pedro each night for dinner, and it was very quiet. While some of the castles are quite busy with tourists, it seemed to quiet down each night, and many of the gardens were not at all busy.
