We stayed at the Casa do Barao in Lisbon for 3 nights in April 2026. This is one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in anywhere and we were really made to feel at home. The room was clean, comfortable, and cleverly outfitted, for example with a screen between the bed and the sink that provided a lot of storage. It also had a small balcony overlooking the quiet street; I believe some rooms instead look over the back of the property. But it's the additional touches that really made our stay special. There's two sitting areas indoors and a beautiful garden in the back, all furnished with a mix of old furnishings and modern art. The breakfast includes freshly prepared frittatas and many other options. Later in the day an array of homemade desserts appear, and in addition to beer and wine there is some port made available for tasting. The staff have a particular taxi company that they have used for years, and we had no trouble getting picked up at 4 am and whisked off to the airport. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough!
