accommodations on Terceira and Sao Miguel

Any recommendations for lodging at Terceira and Sao Miguel. Thank you in advance.

I was on both islands this April. On Terceira, my friends and I stayed in Angra do Heroísmo at a lovely little inn called My Angra Charming House. It was everything I was looking for, and each of my friends were equally delighted. One caveat, it isn't handicap accessible, and there are many steep stairs, so if that's a problem, it's probably not for you. But, it's in a wonderful location, walkable to so many things, and we never had a problem finding parking.

On Sao Miguel, we started out at Azorean Urban Lodge, now more of a guesthouse that was probably a hostel pre-covid. I loved the vibe of it, and the owners/staff were amazing and helpful. But, one of our travel partners was not comfortable there, it wasn't "American" enough, so we ended up moving to the Grand Atlantico (?) near the harbor. Beautiful hotel, lovely staff, but it wasn't really the place to be meeting travelers and making friends.

thanks for these recommendations. What source did you use to find accommodations

I'm not sure I used a particular source. I believe I just googled something like "hotels Angra do Herismo" and saw what popped up. For both of my reservations, I emailed or phoned the hotels directly, because I booked them far enough in advance that the availability for my dates wasn't on their websites yet. I believe each gave me some sort of a discount for booking directly with them

One place I looked at, and will surely book next time I'm in Sao Miguel, was the Hotel Talisman. It's very centrally located, and a lovely art deco style hotel. I normally hate changing hotels, but would stay at least two nights in Furnas next trip.

We are currently in Sao Miguel after having spent seven nights in Angra do Heroismo, Terceira. We rented an apartment, Telhados d’Angra. Great apartment with a great view from the balcony and free street parking.

Here in Sao Miguel we first spent five nights in Furnas also in an apartment with the name Furnas Apartment. This apartment also had free parking and a great view. We’re in our third of five nights in Ponta Delgada, again in an apartment, also with free parking nearby. This one is Yellow Flat One Azores. It’s a nice apartment but the other two were nicer. We may have been spoiled by the balconies and the views. All are within walking distance from restaurants and the sights in the town itself.

We found these on booking.com so you can easily check them out if you’re interested.
Good luck in your search!
