Zakopane Ski Season

Yes, it's in the Tatra mountain area so expect snow in the winter and the typical winter activities. It's kid and family friendly. I went there as a child myself and have fond memories of the food, the architecture, and the snow. People also hike there although mostly in other seasons.

As a nearby alternative, the skiing around Wisła in the Silesian Beskid mountains next to Czechia is very good. I've been in the area a few times and the ski resort town of Wisła itself is delightful with its colorful main thoroughfare and chalet hotels. I saw lots of young Polish families there enjoying the snow.

Zakopane is a nice area, with not only ski sites but excellent thermal baths.
